About COGS1

COGS1 introduces the student to field of cognitive
science. The class is team-taught which is a

reflection of the interdisciplinary nature of the field. Topics discussed in class include learning, memory, language, perception, cognitive disorders and development. Additionally, there will be discussion on different methods used within the cognitive science department such as, functional neuroimaging, computational modeling, electophyisiolgical recordings,event-related potentials, and transcranial magnetic stimulation. This course is absolutely interdisciplinary and students should be prepared for an exciting whirlwind
tour-de-cogsci!

Midterm 2 Grades are Posted!
  1. Week 9: Extra Credit Pre-reading quiz opens on Wednesday at 4pm.
  2. Quiz H is online due to the Memorial Day Holiday. It will open on Friday, May 31 at 4pm and close on Sunday at 6pm. Monday section students are welcome to attend either the Wednesday or Friday sections to review Week8 content.

  1. Midterm-1 (all material from weeks 1-3): 27%
  2. Quizzes in section (drop lowest quiz): 20%
  3. Online Pre-reading quizzes-EC (of quiz grade): 5%
  4. SONA 4 Experimental Hours = 1% - Extra Credit (course grade)- Maximum 4 hours
  5. Midterm 2 (all material from weeks 4-6): 27%
  6. Midterm 3 (all material from 7-10): 26%
